The Strategic Initiative Entrepreneurship is a programme run by the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and its partners. The programme promotes an entrepreneurial culture among the students and faculty of the multi-faceted university and also offers a bridge to the SME business community in Northwestern Switzerland. It is the SwissChallenge business competitions that are programme’s central platform. To participate in any of the three competitions Upstart, Innovation and Next, no university degree is required. The competition Cultural requires a BA or MA degree from the Academy of Art and Design, FHNW. The competitions are open to enterprising individuals and organizations. As part of the accompanying programme to the competitions, all participants and teams can take advantage of the four core areas of expertise at the university: training is given, research and development projects discussed and elucidated, and consulting and coaching services offered.
Through the Swiss Challenge competitions, entrepreneurs are supported in every phase of their company’s life:
- Start-up funding in the initial phase
- Promotion of innovation in the growth phase
- Consulting in the process of handing over to subsequent owners
